Unwholesome demand occurs when consumers become attracted to products or services that have undesirable social consequences.

Example of unwholesome demand:

Cigarettes and cigarette smoking in many parts of the world, specifically the United States of America, are viewed as having undesirable social consequences. Pornography and drugs are also considered an unwholesome demand.
