Role is the expected activities a person in business performs.
Example of role:
The supervisor of a company performs the role of a manager, supervising the employees that are directly under his/her chain of command.
Some companies may assign multiple roles to one employee whereby the employee performs multiple duties. An example of this would be that the supervisor may have the role of manager, plus they be assigned the role of accountant within the organization.
Typically, the smaller the company, the more roles an individual employee is often expected to perform.
