Place-based media is advertising media that transmits messages in public places, such as dental offices and airports, where certain types of people congregate.

Place-based media is often digital in nature, however is not limited to just digital media. Place-based media can be incorporated in virtually any type of business where there is a high concentration of people. Some businesses using placed-based media may include sports bars, restaurants, book store, shopping malls, and coffee shops.
